Most Apps ask you for your personal information when you download them so have a Privacy Policy which explains what happens to this information.
You will have seen that when you download the App, when you downloaded the free Safe Places App, we didn’t actually ask you for any of your personal information at all.
That’s because when we decided to build the Apps all we wanted to do was to help anyone find a Safe Place in time of need, no matter what their details were.
The reason for the App needing to know this is because it needs to know exactly where you are so it can direct you to the nearest open Safe Place. If the App doesn’t know where you are it won’t know which Safe Place is nearest!
The App asks for this because if there isn’t a Safe Place within a 15 minute walk for where you are, the Apps will ask you if you would like it to automatically call the non-emergency phone number 101 to get you some help over the phone.
To do this the App needs to be given permission to access your phone.
We don’t collect any information at all.
As we don’t have any information there is nothing to use.
Again, as we don’t have any information, we have nothing to share.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please contact us at info@safeplaces.org.uk and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.
